Biography of

Apostle Steve Hezekiah Jones

Steve Hezekiah Jones was the sixth child out of the eight children born to the late Thelmon Jones Sr. and Pauline Jones on February 28th, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. Raised in the Wentworth Gardens housing projects, life was not easy for the Jones family, but because of a loving family and the grace of God they persevered.

He was educated in the Chicago Public School System and graduated from Dunbar Vocational High School in 1974.

On Thanksgiving Day 1975, he was licensed to preach the gospel under the leadership of the late Pastor Marvin J. Yancy Sr. at Fountain of Life Baptist Church located in Chicago. He was ordained by Pastor Marvin J. Yancy Sr. in March of 1977, and served as Assistant Pastor.

He matriculated to higher levels of learning by attending classes at Moody Bible Institute. He later received his Associates of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biblical Studies from Fields Bible Institute (located in Memphis, TN).

In June of 1981, he was installed as Pastor of Greater Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago. Under his leadership the church membership grew from under 100 members to over 400 members. Pastor Jones served there until October of 1993 when the Holy Spirit led him to give birth to Praise Tabernacle Deliverance Baptist Church on the south-side of Chicago.

Under his dynamic teaching and leadership, Praise Tabernacle Deliverance Baptist Church grew both numerically and spiritually. In November of 1997, the Voices of Tabernacle recorded its first gospel CD project through Diversity Records, entitled "God's Got A Blessing For You".

On November 30, 2003, Pastor Jones was appointed Bishop-Designate, by Bishop William L. Jordan of the St. Mark Covenant Churches Fellowship International.

On November 21, 2004, he was appointed Bishop and served as State Overseer Illinois of the SMCCF. On December 4th, 2004, he was consecrated into the sacred office of Third Presiding Prelate of the St. Mark Covenant Churches Fellowship International. In 2004, he and Praise Tabernacle planted its first church, Word Tabernacle Deliverance Baptist Church where Pastor Claudine Jackson serves as Pastor.

On November 16, 2005, he was elevated to the office of the Second Presiding Prelate of the St. Mark Covenant Churches Fellowship International.

In July of 2008, he was stricken with an illness and hospitalized for four weeks. It was during that time that God revealed to him a new assignment. Having received the prophetic utterance years prior, it was after much prayer, fasting, and laying before the presence of God that he humbly submitted to the apostolic call that God placed upon his life.

In February 2009 (after 6 months of recovery), the sons and daughters of Bishop Jones came together in a “Sons & Daughters” Conference and affirmed him as their “Apostolic Father” in a public ceremony. In March 2009, he submitted to the leadership of Apostle Richard D. Henton, Founder and Senior Pastor of Monument of Faith Evangelistic Ministries. In April 2009, he changed the name of the church to “Praise Tabernacle Deliverance Center”. In July 2009, Apostle Henton reaffirmed him as an “Apostle of the Lord’s Church”, and “Presiding Prelate of The Disciples of Deliverance Fellowship International”, in a public ceremony at Praise Tabernacle Deliverance Center. In September 2009, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Hope Bible Seminary & Institute (located in Hammond, IN). Over the years, Apostle Jones has licensed over 35 ministers & 5 pastors.

He is a remarkable teacher, and a man of many gifts and talents. Along with his weekly radio broadcast, “Faith Talk with The Apostle” on TCM Internet Radio at www.tcmradiostation.com on Saturdays, he is a contributing writer for The Gospel Tribune newspaper, and “Faith Talk” Newsletter.

He is blessed with a family which includes a loving and supportive wife, Lady Beverly Jones, eight children, and five grandchildren.

Apostle Jones has a spirit of warmth and humility. His character exemplifies one who loves God, his wife, family, and flock. As he avails himself to be used of God, he continues to deliver messages that are not only life changing and prophetic, but also thought provoking and sometimes humorous because it forces us to really examine ourselves. Because of his obedience to God and his love for others, Apostle Jones continues to persevere and truly believe that The Best is yet to come!
